Newplace cross country is our own event in the East Sussex Cross Country League, this was race 3 of 6. This year we ran the race as two 2.5 mile loops rather than one 5 mile loop. The event was a great success with 255 runners not including the juniors taking part and plenty of positiive feedback. As usual there was some quality mud to keep the runners happy. Thank you to those who helped on the day, we couldn’t put this event on without your help. Also thank you to all who bought cakes which we asked for a donation a total of £382 was raised from tea and cake.
It was good to not only see plenty of help in marshalling but also 14 running in the race. Running from Uckfield were Jamie Keddie, Lee Adams, David Crowhurst, Jason Remington, Badrinath Mohandas, Andy Stolton, Chris Tatnell, Richard Page, Catherine Harker, Samantha Kedwards, John Ilfe, Steve Primrose, Christine Tait and Michael Hill. We finished 5th team (we run as a combined team with Heathfield) out of 12 teams.

There was a good turnout for the Worthing half marathon with eleven running from Uckfield. The is a flat course, the weather was cold but dry but he westerly wind made it hard running westwards along the seafront to Groing. First home was Stewart Gasson with a time of 1hr 37:19 followed by Graham West 1hr 38:07 and the first lady from Uckfield Tara Twyman in 1hr 44:09. For four of our runners Tosca Anstis, Nikki Kindon, Sara Patience and Lauren Scordilas this was their first half marathon. To make up the 11 also running were Dayle Bryant, Joanne Thornton, Samantha Kedwards and Christopher Lugg. In true Uckfield Runers tradition the run was followed by Fish and chips, it is after all the seaside.

Another very nice Parkrun today at Bedgebury. Graham West, Peter West, Tara Twyman, Sam kedwards, Sara Patience, Lauren Sordilis, Aimee Payne and Lorraine West as well as my Matthew West walking today. Super location, the rain held off for the run and great cakes by the lake afterwards. Some notable results: well done to Lauren Scordilis finishing over 4min quicker than in June, Lorraine West over 2.5 min quicker and Sara Patience nearly 2min quicker: and Tara Twyman who ran under 30min pushing a double buggy. Also some good finsihing position with Graham West 1st VM55 and 2dn highest age %, Peter West 1st M25 and Samantha Kedwards 2nd VW40.
